Yes, that's right, it's time for another baby update. As the subject line says, I have 23 days left til my due date. The home stretch.
I had a doctor's appointment this morning, in which they took an icky culture, checked to see if baby's head was down (important to know, especially since Brenna turned her happy little butt around int he last week and came out breech), and answered a few of my questions regarding getting my tubes tied, etc.
The doctor took some measurements and tells me that baby is close to 6 1/2 pounds right now, and will likely be longer than his big sister was (Brenna was 7 pounds and measured 19 1/2 inches in length when she was born).
He's also facing the right way and I'm currently "a finger's width dilated." What's that, anyway, about a half an inch?
My BP, weight and everything else are al fine.
Well, Steve's been home for maybe a full week now and has started going through the huge "Honey Do" list that amassed while he was on the road.
The current project is fixing our bathroom wall. (The tiles were about to fall off the wall in a bad, bad way.)
Below I have a set of "before" and "during" pics. The "after" set will come later on.
Today, I spent a good portion of the day washing, folding and putting away all the baby blankets, cribs sheets, burp cloths, towels, etc that we got from the baby shower and various friends & family for the new baby.
There is something very comforting about a new, soft baby blanket freshly washed and smelling of baby-formula laundry soap. Just makes you want to sit down and snuggle up in your favorite chair and take a nap.
How did you pick your Vox name? Does it mean something?

"DebC" is pretty much self-explanatory. My first name is Debbie and the C is my last initial. However, I go by two other online screennames, Meadowbee and ChillyzGrrl.
Meadowbee is a shortened version of what my first and middle names mean together, which is "bee from the the meadow."
ChillyzGrrl is because my husband's military nickname is Chilly and I'm his girl.
What food or drink do you love when it's cold out? (Recipes and recommendations, please!)
Potato Soup
4 to 8 potatoes (depending on size or how many people you're cooking for)
1 cup chopped ham*
1/4 cup chopped celery*
2 - 3 carrots, peeled & chopped*
1 small onion, diced*
cheese, shredded or cubed*
1/2 stick butter
milk
* optional as per your tastes, but I reccomend them all for best results.
Peel and cut potatoes. Place in pot with celery, onions, carrots & ham. Boil in water until potatoes are soft, but not mushy. Drain water (or most of it, a little left in the pot won't hurt). Add milk (enough to cover the contents of pot to make broth), butter, and cheese. Cook on medium-low until cheese is throughly melted. Stir often.
Salt & Pepper to taste.
For the cheese, I use 3 sticks of string cheese, cheddar-mozzerella twisted perferably. However you can use pretty much any cheese you like. Cheddar, cheddar-jack and colby-jack blends also taste good.
The cheese, while not 100% necessary, helps to thicked the broth, almost making it more along the lines of a chowder than a soup.
Take a picture of a person who made your day today.

The person who made my day today is my daughter, Brenna. In this first picture, she's showing off how she can hang upside down on the bar on swing set. I took this so my Dad could see it.
The second picture is a view every parent can appreciate -- my little girl sleeping. She looked so peaceful and sweet, I couldn't help but take the picture.
