Brenn and Mickey were helping their daddy in the back yard today. I thought I would share pictures.
My garden, Steve's new tiller, and Steve & kids with the tiller.
My birthday bench, Micky randomly and Mickey & Brenna on the birthday bench.
And looking like a walking pile of dirt. ;-)
Today's post is brought to you by the letter B and the number 3.
Well, it's that time again, the first day of school. Brenna is in the 3rd grade this year, people. How does it happen? Just a few short years ago she was sitting on my lap watching Sesame Street and now it's Mickey watching Sesame Street and Brenna's in 3rd grade. Someone tell me where my little girl went?
In keeping with my own tradition, here's some "first day of school" pictures to share.
She's grown so much, hasn't she? I still can't believe it, but there it is.
The cardinal I saw yesterday in our front yard. Look how happy he is? He doesn't even care that it's raining.
Soo... the 3-6 inches of snow that they were talking about on the news yesterday never happened. We woke up with just enough snow covering the ground to look at.
Brenna, who had been waiting all day yesterday for the rain to turn to snow was highly disappointed by the whole thing. She lives for that one snow fall a year we get down here, and after all the hype the news gave it, this should have been something you know?
Mickey disliked the cold and started crying within a couple of minutes. Poor little guy.
But here's pictures I took of the kids and the snow.
The first two are Brenna and Mickey in the front yard. As you can see, Mickey is clearly expressing his discontent.
Random shots of snow around the house -- our railing, on the hood of my car, and some snow-covered grass. Woo!
As I type this, the sun is melting what little snow there is. *sigh* Better luck next year, I guess.
Yesterday Brenna, Mickey and I went to the Great Bridge Pumpkin Patch with some friends of ours. The kids played, we went on a hayride, and then bought pumpkins.
Naturally, I have pictures. Some of them I didn't take, so if they look blurry, blame Mike. ;-)
Well, it's that time again, the first day of school.
Brenna is starting 2nd grade this year -- can anyone believe that? Wasn't it just yesterday she looked like this?
(well, at least, in my mind, it feels like just yesterday.)
In keeping with the tradition my mother started with us kid when we were in school, I always take pictures of her on the first day.
From left to right, those are -- preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.
Here are a few of the pictures that didn't get blogged Saturday/Sunday for Blogathon 2007. I am a bit disappointed because apparently, there was supposed to be a "Stop Now' button on my profile for when I was ready to stop, but the only thing I found was the "Drop Out" button which did let me stop, but also notified my sponsors that they weren't liable to pay my charity. I suppose I was too tired to figure out where it was.
Anyway...
Brenna just came running into the house, all excited, yelling "Mommy! There's a baby bird in the back yard!" so I went to investigate. The baby bird turned out to be a little baby cardinal learning to fly. Mommy and Daddy Cardinal were hanging out in the tree tops, on top of Brenna's swing set, on the fence, following his progress as he fluttered and hopped across our yard. Of course, they "yelled" at me while I got close enough to take pictures, but it was too cute not to risk it. I've nicknamed him 'little cheep." We watched him for a while and I explained to Brenna that the mommy & daddy were calling to him, telling him where to go so that he would follow them. Eventually, he wound up over by our green house box, where he kept trying to fly up into the mesh and kept getting caught. I felt kind of bad for scaring him, but I did want to get some good pictures to share. Then we left him alone to let him do his thing and I told Brenna that he was learning to fly and we didn't need to be bothering him anymore. She says "but he's doing such a bad job." "Remember when you were learning to walk?" I told and then realized, well… she doesn't remember it. So I explained to her that she didn't do so hot her first time trying to walk, either. She was all wobbly, just like Little Cheep.
